These little chappies, equipped with a 'ring cap', can be tied to fine cotton trip wires, wedged in boxes and hinges, or held ready by the pages of a book.

Once the pressure is released, the mechanism swings shut and fires the cap.

Every referee should have a couple of these at the bottom of the bag, to make things go with a bang.
